Car Show / Dog Show 2008
The President of The Rotary Club of Hayle Rtn George Stone presented a new club award to 'Bilbo' the Sennen Cove surf Dog as Hayle Rotary Dog of the Year at their Classic Car show which was held at the Hayle Rugby Club recently. The show was another great success for the exhibitors and the many charity organisations that benefit from those coming to see the display of vehicles.

5 year old Newfoundland 'Bilbo', came with his owner RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor Steve Jamieson to the Car show and delighted the crowds, he is a real attraction and many people were able to see what a wonderful dog he is, not just considering his surf rescue ability. Bilbo travels the area going to schools and local groups promoting water safety and animal welfare.

Other debates chosen included: 'The Simpsons - a social commentary', 'Is chocolate good for you?' and 'King Arthur - fact or fiction'. Diverse subjects delivered with confidence and high standards. Stoke Awareness 2008
This annual event takes place on the 28th April 2008 at the Co-op in Hayle .Previous years have seen up to 100 members of the public call in for their annual check-ups, providing a valuable service for the community. Last year one of the blood pressure measuring units failed, resulting in Rotary supplying another unit for the nurses. The unit was presented to the Hayle community nurses on the 3rd December 2007 at the Club meal.

Special Needs Room - Hayle Day Care Centre
Hayle Rotary Club have decorated and partial equiped a Special Needs Room at the Day Centre in Hayle. Items included a special portable massage table, therapist's chair, blinds, curtains and decorating. An appeal was made by the Rotary Club to the Co-op 'Community Dividend Fund' who provided funding for the purchase of the equipment required. Members of the club redecorated the room which has now been handed over and is offering services to clients of the centre.

ShelterBox
Shelterbox activities are still taking place, with ongoing fundraising and shared promotional opportunities. Members continue to donate time and effort to the packing process, ensuring that Shelterboxes reach those most in need.

The latest initiative is a "million in Africa". This would provide temporary accommodation for 1 million people, over a period of four years and at a cost of aproximately 50 million pounds. Hayle Rotary Club resolves to play their part in this tremendous and worthwhile project.
