GSE Team Visit

The visitors from Nepal, District 3292, visited the Hayle Club in May and enjoyed their educational and cultural trips around the area, especially the trips to Paradise Park (World Parrot Trust) and trying their hands at Pasty making (curtesy of Philps famous pasty makers!). Gopal the team leader, who owns a chain of restaurants at home, is threatening to introduce Cornish Pasties on his menu.

The team were enthralled with the seascape as Nepal is land-locked, however many similarities were noted between the two distinctive countries of Nepal and Cornwall – they are surrounded by mountains, we are surrounded by sea! Both nations are threatened by global warming, whereby flooding would be disasterous. Shelterbox has recently dispatched to the area following floods and landslides in Nepal.

On a more fun note – the Nepalis team were introduced to the Wii. Great fun was has by all and the military visitor demonstrated her sharp-shooting skills transferred to bowling and skittles!
