President Night 2010
Our President for this Rotary year was Tony Williams, a sales director in engineering, now concentrating on consultancy in his 'alleged' semi-retirement.

On Friday 14th May 2010 Tony enjoyed his magical President's Night at the Carbis Bay Hotel, St.Ives. A full house of dignitaries and guests attended and were entertained by Chris Edwards who is also know as "Cool Magic"!
A fantastic night was enjoyed by all and a considerable sum of money was raised by the President's raffle for his favourite charity - Penhaligon's Friends.
Sadly, shortly after his President's Night Tony passed away unexpectedly at Treliske Hospital, Truro whilst under going an operation. His funeral took place at Camborne Parish Church on Thursday 27th May.
Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will be remembered fondly for his fundraising, work for youth, the elderly and the community at large. Truly a magical figure himself.
Our condolences go to Diane and his family.
Youth Speaks 2010
The highly successful Youth Speaks is yet again underway, with 5 teams competing at Hayle before moving onto the Area and District finals. As ever the standard will be exceptionaly high with schools holding internal selection competitions!
Birthday Bash Fun Raiser!
Past President George held his annual birthday-cum-fundraising evening (11/11/2009) at the Sheaf of Wheat, St.Ives. The event was well attended and enjoyed by everyone. The usual successful evening raised approximately £700, with most tables enjoying success in the Monster raffle.
Congratulations David Raymer
Rtn. David Raymer found a very novel route to charity fundraising - guess the length of his scar after a recent heart operation. His pain was eased by his sending a very satisfactory donation to Polio Eradication. He was not the only Rotarian who felt stitched up. Well Done David!!
Rotary International has pledged to rid the world of Polio and Hayle Rotarians have taken up the challenge from Bill and Melinda Gates to play their part.
Rtn David is also actively engaged in organising the District 1290 Venezuelan Group Study trips to and from South America in the Spring 2010.
Overview
The Members of the Hayle Rotary Club were honoured an Award Certificate for their work with the James Parkinson Trust at the Celebratory Hub Meeting attended by H.R.H. the Duchess of Gloucester at the Epithany House Truro. Rotarians David Jones and Trevor Osborne were invited to meet the Duchess, who is the Patron of the Parkinson Disease Society and explain our involvement and care to those with parkinsons at the Hub meetings for the Hayle/Camborne area. The day event included workshops on "getting the best from your medicines" and "skype connections".
